2/19/2023 0 Comments Ego trip old dexture![]() I have hundreds of a hundred hobbies - maybe i will count them in another post. To alleviate this i do half a dozen things at a time in steady rotation. I am always learning everything i can about everything i can. When someone seeks information I find it. I am very happy to be living in the United States and am excstatic that this will soon be my permanent home.ħ. I also love living in California and I adore being in the center of Silicon valley and being surrounded by technology and ideas. I have numerous Furby exoskeletons laying around.Ħ. I love to reverse engineer, dissect electronics, toys and robotics and then mash parts together from several items and see what i can come up with. I love contrast and bright lights in the dark.ĥ. Troll Dolls LED's, Glowsticks, electronics that blink. I have many lovely blankets but its still one of my favourites.Ĥ. It was my superhero shield through childhood and I have never grown up enough to not want that extra level of security). I have a Nankie ( I still sleep with the blanket folded up under my pillow. We have an amazing Golden Retriever and have been looking for our second amazing dog as the first one is too perfect to not get a buddy for.ģ. I can't wait to get our dog in the next year or two :) I cant wait to get our second dog soon. Animals around me grow up to be so unique and amazing it is phenomenal. Five years and 1 day ago I reponded to something amazing that my sister-by-choice, Kelli posted online. 'Ego Trip' is currently authoring a book on the history of white rappers.Chains are silly, but sometimes we need silly. The staff have written and produced three television shows for the cable network, including "TV's Illest Minority Moments presented by Ego Trip," the three-part "Ego Trip's Race-O-Rama!", Ego Trip's The (White) Rapper Show, and Ego Trip's Miss Rap Supreme. Their second book Ego Trip's Big Book of Racism! (Regan Books, 2002) spawned a relationship with the VH1 cable network. 2, Issue 5: Wu-Tang/ Ghostface KillahĪfter closing the magazine, the Ego Trip team (Jenkins, Wilson, Mao, Alvarez and Rollins) continued on to a series of multimedia projects, such as the old-school rap music compilation The Big Playback ( Rawkus Records, 2000), inspired by their first book, Ego Trip's Book of Rap Lists (St. 2, Issue 4: A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Large Professor The 13 issues featured the following rap artists on the cover: ![]() However, it was most identified as a hip hop magazine. The last core member was designer Brent Rollins who joined the magazine in their third year and took over as art director.Įgo Trip covered a range of so-called "underground" scenes, including skateboarders and punk/ indie rockers before those scenes became as commonplace as they are today. Likewise, the fourth core member, Gabriel Alvarez, was formerly an editor at the Los Angeles-based Rap Pages until Ego Trip recruited him, eventually making him managing editor. Technically, Jenkins and Wilson founded Ego Trip (with photographer/documentarian Henry Chalfant given honorary status as co-founder as well), though Mao was a part of the staff from the first issue and eventually became editor-in-chief after Jenkins left to become music editor at Vibe. All three (Jenkins, Wilson, and Mao) also had extensive freelance backgrounds writing for other publications such as Rap Pages, Vibe and URB. Sacha and Haji met and brought aboard both Elliott Wilson and later Jefferson "Chairman" Mao. The roots of the publication began with a hip hop newspaper called Beat-Down Newspaper, founded by Haji Akhigbade and Sacha Jenkins in 1992. ![]()
